  • 1vAsudEva and vAsu are other names for Vishnu, whose usage predates the birth of vAsudEva Krishna. vAsudEva is sometimes incorrectly translated as son of vasudEva (the prince of Vrishni and the father of vAsudEva Krishna, whose name actually means the lord of vasus, one of the nine gaNas of divine beings).
  • B.S. Rajaiyengar is credited with the first known recording of the song in Kapi.
  • M.S. Subbulakshmi's recital of the song at the United Nations is probably its best-known rendition.
