Lyrics
Pallavi
mahA gaNapatiM manasA smarAmi Show DetailsvasiSTha vAma dEvAdi vandita1 | I contemplate on the great Ganapati mentally, the one worshipped by sages like Vashishta and Vamadeva. |
Samashti Charanam
mahAdEva sutaM guruguha nutaM Show DetailsmAra kOTi prakAzaM zAntaM mahAkAvya nATakAdi2 priyaM mUSika vAhana mOdaka priyam | The son of Shiva and the one praised by Subrahmanya The one who is resplendent like crores of manmathas, the calm one The one who is fond of epic literary works and dramas The one who has a mouse as His vehicle and is fond of modakas. |
Variations
- 1vandita - vanditaM --The latter seems to be correct as it is consistent with the rhyme scheme(prAsam). The former seems to have evolved over time as the pallavi loops over and vanditaM and mahAgaNapatiM merge.
Commentary
- Kshetram: Thiruvarur
- 2nATakAdi - One can observe the beautiful incorporation of the rAga mudra by the composer here.
