While I entreat You again and again to protect me and melting away, O Lotus Eyed! if You do not protect me, who else will protect me? O Mother - praised by this Thyagaraja - who always grants boons!

Commentary

  • 1dharmAmbikA – Name of ParvathI at Thiruvaiyaru
  • 2kanakAGgi – There is a doubt as to whom this refers. As this Krti refers to Parvathi who is of the same hue as Vishnu – (dark blue or dark green), ‘kanakAGgi’ – ‘golden limbed’ may not be applied to Parvathi. This may apply to Lakshmi (ramA). Accordingly both versions are given.
  • 3kAtyAyani – Name of Lalita Maha Tripura Sundari in Lalita Sahasra Mamam (556) – meaning ‘the sumtotal of the effulgence of all the deities.’ (Refer to Lalita Sahasra Namam – Translation by Tapasyananda.)
