Variations
- General – The order of caraNas varies in the books.
- 1tanayandu – nIyandu
- 2phalamandu kOri – phalamandu gOru - phalamandu kOra. All the caraNas (other than the last one) and anupallavi are connected to the pallavi through the ending word of each caraNa. Applying the same, the word ‘kOri’ of this caraNa can connect it to pallavi. Accordingly ‘phalamandu kOri’ is appropriate.
- 3bhAgayamA –This is how it is given all the books. However, this word should be ‘bhAgyamu’ because of the following words ‘dEhi dEhi’. Sri Thyagaraja seems to exhort his mind to seek the same fortune (bhAgyamu) as that of Vaidehi; otherwise these words ie., ‘dEhi dEhi’ by themselves convey no meaning.
- 4panthAnuDu – pandhAnuDu. The Sanskrit words ‘panthAna’ and ‘saMdhAna’ have similar meaning. In telugu there is no such word. Therefore, ‘panthAna’ is appropriate.
